Tata Communications is looking forward to an increase in demand for its connected workplace solutions as more factories resume operations. The report by economic times has brought forth that Tata Communication has found out an increase in its coveted workplace solution since more factories have stopped from their daily routine operation. To improve the overall supply chain in a positive way the IoT solution is expected. The initiation of interest in developing has been from the manufacturing sector since work-from-home is not given as an option for many employees and the allied upcoming companies need to restart operations as early as possible,” said Alok Bardiya, head – Internet of Things (business unit), Tata Communications.

He said the company expects demand from the services sector soon. “Over last two months, there has been an increase in the interest in our connected worker solution, there is a clear view and good knowledge on understanding on connected worker solutions earlier as well, but the crisis has accentuated the awareness of the solution and needs for worker safety,” this is the statement given by Bardiya.

According to Bardiya, demand for the company’s IoT business was in the demand even before the  COVID-19 outbreak, but the crisis has now accelerated implementation and leads to deployment. “In the past year, we started the groundwork and have the abilities to cater to enterprises that were previously looking for nearly more than100 to 200 devices, but currently going beyond thousands of devices to transform their business, he said. “The development in demand comes as enterprises and give basic knowledge to understand how IoT can impact their overall supply chain.”

The demand for IoT-based solutions has started to grow exponentially, with around 10 to15 million people in mid-size and large-size enterprises that are expected to benefit from connected solutions. The company has also begun to check the demand for enabling IoT for the facility and it is even used in vehicle tracking to develop remote control and remote monitoring.

IoT-based solutions have started to offer an end-to-end solution with the main offering from sensors, networks, cloud, and analytics, being worked as the connected worker solution. The alert between the employees and the supervisor is allowed by the solutions that are already available include a safety watch and a safe pass card. For instance, there will be alert by a trigger, if the number of employees in a given space exceeds the permitted limit.
