SpiceJet has been fined Rs.10 lakh by the DGCA for using a defective simulator to train 737 Max pilots on Monday. According to a senior DGCA official, the DGCA noticed an MMI (Missing Malfunction Inoperative Item) for the B737 Max’s Stick shaker on the P2 side on March 30, 2022, while conducting simulator surveillance at CSTPL Greater Noida. The MMI has been inoperative since March 17, 2022.
The DGCA penalised SpiceJet 10 lakhs on May 30 for using a faulty simulator to train 737 Max pilots. The DGCA had previously prohibited 90 SpiceJet pilots from flying B737 Max planes. Retraining of the pilots was mandated by the agency in question. SpiceJet’s training “may have adversely influenced flight safety and was invalidated,” according to the report.
