Direct cash subsidy transfer through Aadhar from January 1

Nov 25, 2012: In a move targeted at the Aam Aadmi, Government of India who till now were giving subsidy directly, will from now on directly transfer the subsidy to the beneficiaries as cash through the Aadhar based system. This is initially going to be launched from January 1 in 51 districts of the country. This direct cash subsidy transfer system will be extended to whole of India by 2013. The move which is termed as revolutionary will ensure that the subsidy directly reaches the beneficiary and they have more cash at their disposal. This was announced by Finance Minister, Mr. P. Chidambaram on the sidelines of a Bancon conference being held in Pune.
