Discovery Inc. launched a new streaming service Discovery+ in the United States on Monday through Amazon fire TV and Roku. New Discovery+ is also available in Vodafone TV and other mobile apps in some European countries.
Discovery+ was previously launched in several other countries. More than 55000 episodes of 2500 shows from TV brands include TLC, HGTV, Animal Planet is available in Discovery+, it will cost about $4.99 to $6.99. It will also stream many original series and exclusives with high quality.
Famous streaming service HBO MAX of AT & T Inc. launched its service on May 27 with $15/month, but not being available on Amazon and Roku, which critically affects its growth. Later HBO MAX available in Amazon Fire TV and Fire tablet after 6months and in Roku after 7months.
NBC universal which is a subsidiary of Comcast launched a top streaming service, Peacock on July 15. But it also not accessible on Roku until September 21 and still not available on Amazon Fire TV.
Circulation deals for streaming services have been complex due to some critical issues such as which firm controls user data that can be used to create more targeted and thus more expensive – ads.
Discovery Inc. had done a deal with Verizon communication Inc. about U.S distribution, which helps Disney+ to make service available to 50 million customers on the first day. Later Walt Disney Co. made a similar deal with Verizon communication Ins. for the set-up of the Disney + streaming service. Discovery Inc. had also made other deals with top broadcasters in different countries such as British broadcaster Sky in the UK and Ireland, Telecom Italia (TIM S. p. A) in Italy, and MEGOGO in Eastern Europe. MEGOGO currently available in 15 post-soviet states and worldwide, which is a global entertainment service with over 50 million users and a library of 80,000 videos are available.
