Driving Towards Inclusion: Visually Impaired Navigators Lead the Way in Thryve Digital Brailles on Wheels 2024
The 33rd edition of “Thryve Digital Brailles on Wheels” was organized in Chennai marking yet another milestone in fostering community sensitivity towards the visually challenged. It was hosted by Thryve Digital Health LLP in collaboration with the National Association for the Blind (NAB) and Madras Motor Sports Club (MMSC).
This one-of-a-kind rally, specially designed to be a show of solidarity and support, focused on building a more inclusive society to encourage a sense of sensitivity for the visually challenged. The rally saw an overwhelming turnout of 120 cars where participants and supporters, all united in their commitment to promoting inclusivity and empathy. Participants were provided with specially tailored Braille T shirts and each car featured a visually impaired navigator who was equipped with a Braille map, guiding their team through the rally route with precision and camaraderie. It is noteworthy to highlight that there was also a ‘paw buddy’ section for those participants who were interested in bringing their pets along.
The unique Braille T-shirts served as both a practical communication tool and a symbol of inclusivity. Thryve’s incorporation of braille into everyday clothing demonstrated their commitment to accessibility and empathy, making each shirt a powerful vehicle for raising awareness and promoting support for the visually impaired community in an innovative manner. The winners’ trophies also had Braille imprints within.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the event, Balasubramanian Sankaranarayanan, President & CEO of Thryve Digital Health LLP, said “Our 2023, edition of the “Thryve Digital Brailles On Wheels” opened our eyes to the opportunity to make meaningful impact in the lives of the visually impaired. What makes it most unique is that while building sensitivity and awareness for the participants, it is also a celebratory event for the visually impaired where they enjoy themselves in a sporting activity that is also a strong social bonding exercise. It is with this event that we also decided to create “Thryve Scribe Duty” that is probably one of the industry’s “only” format of a team of associates focused on helping the scribing needs of visually impaired students. Last year’s rally was also an opportunity to express our “animal-care” initiative by weaving a “Doggy Buddy” category into the rally that later expanded to be called the “Thryve Animal Lifeline League” (TALL). “Thryve for Good” is what we call our CSR program and with every edition of the  “Thryve Digital Brailles On Wheels” it just gets better. It’s our fond honor and privilege to be able to rally for this cause.”
Expressing her thoughts, Ms Krithika Kumar Quintal, President of the National Association for the Blind, Tamil Nadu State Branch, said, “Thryve Digital is not just the first title sponsor for this annual car rally, but also helped us rebrand and scale this event significantly. The 2024 event has surpassed our past editions by far. It delights me to see how we have been able to receive such a strong and widespread support to the deserving cause of building a community of socially sensitive citizens. We thank all the participants and stakeholders of the ‘Thryve Digital Brailles on Wheels 2024’ car rally and hope to see them again in 2025.
Ms Nina Reddy, Immediate Past President of the National Association for the Blind, commended Thryve Digital for transforming the rally into a celebration of inclusivity and collaboration. She highlighted the rally’s role in sensitizing the world to the needs of the visually challenged, reaffirming the collective responsibility to support the marginalized communities.
The Thryve Digital Brailles on Wheels 2024 rally concluded on a triumphant note, leaving a lasting impact on all participants and spectators. As the cars crossed the finish line, it symbolized not just the completion of a rally, but the beginning of a journey towards a more inclusive and compassionate society.
