E-commerce witness new changes – Augmented reality and 3D

We have witnessed the increased use of E-commerce and other digital services during this pandemic. It was an important lesson in 2020 that every business must be digital because businesses that went digital before the pandemic was able to thrive during this lockdown. Post COVID-19 will see a new level of preparedness for businesses to face the challenges to function in this digitally enabled world.

E-commerce is one of the important business trends with very high potential to grow in future. Corona pandemic changed the trajectory of E-commerce, remote work and Telemedicine. Every economy in the world witnessed the surge in the use of E-commerce, the US the largest consumer market in the world in its history bought more groceries online than in-store. It was reported that 22% more consumers shopped online than in-store in March 2020 in the US, because of the epidemic. Statistics will change because the awareness and social distancing practices are getting much popular among the masses.

Every technology needs to modify and develop with the changes happening in the buying behaviour of people and by the demands of the market. In the coming years, rapid developments will happen in science and technology. Telecommunication industry will see a big change with the introduction of 5G connectivity which will pave the way for Artificial Intelligence, Automation, Augmented and Virtual reality etc.

E-commerce will also have to accept the changes in the market and one of the most important innovation in it will be product visualization through 3D and Augmented reality. Ben Houston, Founder and CTO from Threekit – a visual technology company claimed that visual effects using in Hollywood movies can be used in e-commerce activities to sell products online.

Product imagery will help the customers to capture information about the product 60 times faster than words. The technology is still in development and many e-commerce companies will make use of it in the coming years.

Augmented reality and Virtual reality are future technologies and many tech giants have invested billions in its research and development. Facebook’s Oculus, htc’s Vive and Google’s ARCore will reach the market in the coming years. E-commerce brought a big change in the buying behaviour in recent years and in innovations will happen in it, gives a new experience.
