The Godrej Ezee liquid detergent brand is dedicated to easing the winter challenges of underprivileged kids.
Thousands of sweaters were donated as part of a campaign to provide warmth to underprivileged kids during the rough winter season.
Gul Panag, an actress and entrepreneur, has teamed together to raise awareness about the winter hardships that poor children suffer. Godrej Ezee and the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the nation’s meteorological office, have teamed up for a first-of-its-kind effort this year.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), between 1980 and 2018, human death in India was substantially higher due to cold waves. Between 2010 and 2018, the cold waves in India increased by 506%. Thousands of disadvantaged school children in the Northern region suffered severe winters without woollens.
Thousands of homeless people face the harshness of winter and are at risk of getting serious illnesses. They have become susceptible to rising air pollution levels and the early advent of winter this year.
The temperature can drop down levels for eight weeks from December to January. Every year, the destitute, particularly children without blankets or warm clothing, die due to the dangerous damp cold.
Children are also more susceptible to viral fever and cold due to a lack of woollen clothing. Godrej Ezee sought to raise awareness about the sufferings of winter and how to alleviate them. As a result, the Ezee Hugs campaign was born.
Ezee Hugs has spread warmth by encouraging people to donate their woollens for children through this social movement.
Gul Panag has joined with Godrej Ezee this year to focus more people’s attention on kids’ winter struggles. Gul, a part-time actor and full-time wonderful mother, works with the Colonel Shamsher Singh Foundation, named after her grandfather.
It is an NGO that works on gender equality, education, and disaster relief. She was a part of Anna Hazare’s India Against Corruption movement. She also offered her support to farmers protesting the Farm Bills on the Delhi border.
Gul will use her platform to help the cause and promote awareness. While Ezee Hugs welcomes people to contribute sweaters to disadvantaged kids directly, Ezee and Gul will work together to distribute more than 4000 sweaters across North India.
‘Gul 4 Change’ projects like Shraddha, that support autistic adults were her other initiatives. She is also the founder of the ‘Green Commandos’ foundation, which aims to protect the environment.
