Fiat has launched the Abarth Punto for Rs 9.95 lakh as per the ex-showroom pricing in Delhi. It is the most powerful hatchback that is available in the price bracket below Rs 10 lakh, and it delivers a peak power that is 40 hp higher than that delivered by Volkswagen Polo GT.
The Fiat Abarth Punto is the most inexpensive car available in the Indian market with a power of over 140 hp. It has been launched in two colors – Hip Hop Black and Pearl White.
While the vehicle was unveiled at the Buddh International Circuit, the third variant with grey color of the hatchback was showcased. It was spied earlier outside a dealership of Fiat, but it is not available right now.
When it comes to its physical dimensions, the Fiat Abarth Punto has a measurement of 3,989 mm in length, 2,510 mm in wheelbase and 1,505 mm in height. Talking of the other details, the ground clearance of the hatchback is 155 mm when compared to the standard Punto that has a ground clearance of 185 mm to 195 mm. This is achieved due to the lowered as well as stiffened suspension.
The Fiat Abarth Punto features a helical coil-spring alongside double acting telescopic dampers on both the front wheels. The same is the case with the torsion beam on the rear wheels. There is a stabilizer bar on both the front and rear suspensions.
The Fiat hatchback is powered by a T-Jet turbocharged petrol engine of 1.4 litre. This engine renders a power output of 145 hp and a torque of 212 Nm. There is a 5 speed manual transmission along with the engine.
On the safety front, the Fiat Abarth Punto has 7 airbags, Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) alongside Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD), Hill-start assist control, etc. With these features, the hatchback zeroes in on its challenger Volkswagen GT TSI.
