FIIB-Sip Mela 2025: A Platform For Driving Sustainable Impact Through Student Innovation

New Delhi, February 28, 2025: The Fortune Institute of International Business (FIIB) successfully hosted their signature program FIIB-SIP Mela recently bringing together 295 student-led projects, faculty, industry leaders, and sustainability advocates to showcase innovative solutions aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Held at FIIB Campus, the event provided a dynamic, experiential learning platform where FIIB students presented their internship-based sustainability projects—each offering real-world, data-driven solutions to challenges in education, gender equality, economic empowerment, and sustainable industry innovation. The SIP (Social Internship Program), an integral part of FIIB’s curriculum, enables students to work with organizations tackling these critical issues, reinforcing the institute’s commitment to responsible business education.

Strategic Selection of SSOs (Social Sector Organizations):

FIIB meticulously selects SSOs that align with its sustainability objectives, evaluating potential partner organizations on their mission, activities, and impact. This ensures student internships contribute meaningfully to broader sustainability agendas. Over the years, the program has achieved:

  • 1,356 successful student internship completions to date
  • Partnerships with 25+ impactful SSOs and CSR units
  • New collaborations with organizations like Habitat India, Saukhyam, Tweet Foundation, SOS Children’s Village, V-Shesh, Youngistan Foundation, PVR Nest, and EXL
  • A diverse range of focus areas, including transgender advocacy, education equity, gender inequality, sustainability, menstrual health, urban sustainability, skill enhancement, and economic inclusion for persons with disabilities.

Students are encouraged to go beyond traditional internship roles by producing research-driven outputs, including white papers, consulting reports, training modules, and data-backed recommendations for SSOs. These contributions offer actionable insights, strengthening the impact of partner organizations while refining students’ analytical and problem-solving skills.

Beyond the exhibits, the event featured NGO collaborations on gender equity, sustainability, and skill enhancement, where organizations explored the role of future business leaders in sustainable development. Prof. Radhika Shrivastava, Executive Director of FIIB, who attended the event, noted, “The FIIB-SIP Mela is a remarkable initiative that bridges management education with real-world impact, empowering students to become catalysts for meaningful change.”

UNSDG Alignment and Sensitization:

FIIB’s SIP aligns closely with UNSDGs 4, 5, 8, and 9, embedding sustainability principles into the program. To enhance students’ understanding, comprehensive awareness workshops educate them on the principles and significance of the UNSDGs. These workshops, discussions, and interactive sessions foster deeper engagement, encouraging students to align their personal values with global goals. Each participant selects an SDG of focus and provides a rationale for their choice, ensuring a sense of ownership and commitment to sustainable development.

As FIIB continues to educate socially responsible business leaders, the FIIB-SIP Mela remains a cornerstone of its vision to integrate sustainability into mainstream management education.
