Flipkart partners with designers in fashion domain

The e-commerce giant Flipkart has partnered with Pitti Immagine, an Italian fashion company, Arvind, an Indian company and designers such as Prithvi Rao, and Timzy Batra. This move is done to help the sellers on its online marketplace create new designs that are in line with the international trends.

Trendstalk that is a platform launched by the e-tailer lately carries insights on the most recent global fashion trends. The trends include designs, cuts, palettes, fabric direction and forecasts that will help the sellers create as well as list the products that the buyers look for.

Rishi Vasudev, the Vice President of Fashion at Flipkart stated that with this move they are essentially democratizing fashion and also giving a chance to the emerging designers, brands, and exporters form a niche for themselves. They way, they will get into the upcoming season trends in the fashion industry. He added that this data was earlier available only to the major fashion houses and brands.

Besides sharing insights and trends on the portal of the seller, Flipkart is also conducting offline workshops each and every season to handhold the sellers for the next collection.

The fastest expanding category at Flipkart is fashion and its growth rate is 10 percent per month, added Vasudev. In the last year, this category witnessed a threefold growth. With the latest initiative, this portal is aiming to target around 5,000 independent sellers in the fashion category.

With the same, the sellers can access specially developed technical content for design and style operators, creative directors, designers, clothing company makers and exporters in the country, stated Pitti Immagine India’s director Annou Iyer.

Iyer added that the initiatives similar to this will help the sellers break out the conventional design set-up with the help of trend application techniques and globally targeted tools.

The apparel industry has witnessed many benefits due to the growth in the e-commerce. Fashion has become highly successful online due to the easy returns, presence of customer reviews and innovative visualization tools.
