Flipkart Samarth is a breakthrough initiative launched by Minister of State for Corporate Affairs Anurag Singh Thakur along with Flipkart CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy which aims at bringing India’s artisans weavers and handicraft producers onto e-commerce. Krishna Murthi says that this program will support the e-commerce for artisans until they became familiar with the process of selling online.
On Friday the Flipkart company said that their Samarth program which aims to support small and medium businesses has seen four times quarter-on-quarter growth since July last year. Since the past, five to six years the firm’s other market place segments have been typically grown at 1.5 times to 2 times quarterly. While speaking to the reporters Harode said that for various product categories the demand is stronger than pre- COVID-19 levels. Then pre- COVID-19 Traction is more which is also reflecting in Samarth sales.
All the household essentials, personal care, food, and beverages all these products have seen a massive jump. The company said in a statement that the Samarth program currently supports about 6 lakh of artisans, craftsmen, and weavers across India. And also it is working towards bringing more such sellers to the platform.
Flipkart said that for any Flipkart Samarth seller on the border to the platform, it has introduced a host of new benefits for the sellers which includes a commission waiver of zero percent for the first six months. After that to help them garner prominent visibility on the platform among others they will be granted free cataloging support for a limited number of products, advertising credits for the first month. From the remotest part of Indian states such as parts of Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab, and Karnataka till now with the help of government partnerships they have been able to bring artisans online.
Jagjeet Harode the senior director and the head of the market place at Flipkart said that they will reach out and bring many more institutions and individuals. By almost two times the post unlock queries from potential sellers have gone: Harode says.

He also said that the Flipkart company was also running awareness campaigns to reach potential sellers to join the platform
