The automobile manufacturer Ford is on a refreshing spree in India. The company is refreshing its product portfolio in the country by dumping away a few old models and bringing in a minimum of four Ford new models. This move shows that the United States based automobile manufacturer is looking forward to boost its overall sales in the country.

Ford stopped producing the hatchback model Figo and the sedans such as Fiesta and Classic. The first model in the fresh new lineup is the Figo Aspire that has been launched recently. Also, new variants of the Figo, Endeavour and Mustang will be launched next in India in a few months, claim people with knowledge about the plans. Ford India is attempting to shed the image as a manufacturer deepening on one product wonder by introducing several products in quick succession.

The bread and butter model of Ford in India right now is the EcoSport. Figo Aspire generated robust response and the company received 4,000 to 5,000 bookings for the model since its launch in the last month. The Figo Aspire will be released by late September or early October followed by the upcoming Endeavour SUV. Also, the Mustang sports model should be launched in the country by early next year at the Auto Expo.

These are the desperate efforts taken by Ford to boost the sales that have gone plunging for quite sometime. The sales of Ford India dropped over 30 percent to 18,546 units in the second quarter of this year while the automobile market in the country grew by 7 percent.

The product launches made by Ford are very few in comparison to the rivals such as Hyundai Motor and Maruti Suzuki. This is one of the major reasons for the lackluster performance of the manufacturer in the country. However, the analysts are not sure about the success that the upcoming products will receive.
