Fujifilm India announces the winner of ‘GFX Challenge Grant Program’ for the Asia Pacific Region at a special short film screening event in Chennai

Chennai, 30th November 2022: Fujifilm India, a pioneer in photographic devices and electronic imaging, conducted a short film screening event for an Indian winner Joseph Mathew Daniel who emerged as a regional winner under GFX Grant Program 2021. The screening was held in Chennai at NFDC. 

The GFX Challenge Grant Program, by FUJIFILM, is a grant program that awards 5 Global Grant Awards and 10 Regional Grant Awards to empower ambitious creatives in recognizing their imaging projects and bringing them to life. The challenge brings an opportunity for all the shutterbugs around the globe to showcase the best of their creativity and art through their Photography & Cinematography skills.

The Grant Challenge was conducted at global & Asia-Pacific region, where an Indian participant, Joseph Mathew Daniel with his live creative exposures turned out to be the winner of the Asia Pacific GFX challenge. His work titled ‘Iqbal Mohamed in Harmony with Nature’ emerged as the AP regional winner among 3000 participants in the global challenge. The 32 minutes short film has been shot on Fujifilm GFX 100, explores the delicate and pure relationship Mr. Iqbal shares with nature and how nature has, in a very magical way, reciprocated Iqbal’s love for it and revealed to him its most beautiful side. Iqbal’s timeless masterpieces have inspired a generation of photography enthusiasts in India. In the course of the film, Iqbal will reveal lesser known but critical facets which will be invaluable information for aspiring photographers for generations to come.

Fujifilm GFX series of cameras are large format cameras that create powerful pictures & cinema style videos. The GFX camera’s sensor is around 1.7 times that of the full frame. With the combination of the FUJINON GF lenses powered by Fujifilm’s outstanding imaging technology, the GFX can achieve extremely high resolution and rich tonality which professional photographers expect.

The winner of the challenge Joseph Mathew Daniel, too expressed, “I am extremely grateful and buoyant to be chosen as a Asia Pacific regional winner of this distinguished global project. Having chosen among the thousands of participants at an international level, this comes out as an encouraging effort for me and my entire team. Being the sole Indian winner, I am hoping that this success will motivate tonnes of photography and videography enthusiasts to put forth their best shot and win many more global titles for themselves and most importantly for their country. 

The 15 award recipients for the GFX challenge were revealed in March 2022, and the 15 works were finally finished in August 2022 after 5 months of creation. The event embarks the original photographic and video works from around the world.
