On Wednesday, General Motors India announced the launch of the new Chevrolet SAIL hatchback and sedan priced in the range between Rs 4.41 lakh and Rs 7.64 lakh. These pricing are the ex-showroom costs in the country’s capital.
The new SAIL hatchback from General Motors costs between Rs 4.41 and Rs 6.81 lakh, whereas the updated SAIL sedan is priced between Rs 5.19 and Rs 7.64 lakh respectively, claimed the auto maker in an official statement.
It has to be noted that both these models are launched in both petrol and diesel variants. the diesel model is powered by a 1.3 litre engine that can render 75 bhp of power and 190 Nm of torque. On the other hand, the petrol variant uses a 1.2 litre engine that can deliver 83 bhp of power and 108 Nm of torque respectively. There is a 1.3 litre oil burner with a turbo charged four-cylinder unit.
The new SAIL cars are incorporated with new active and passive safety features including engine immobilizer, speed-sensitive automatic door locks, central door locking and remote keyless entry enhance active safety. Furthermore, the SAIL features dual air bags, electronic brake force distribution (EBD) and anti-lock braking system (ABS).
The all-beige dashboard in the interior is replaced by dual tone black and beige unit featuring silver and chrome inserts over the music system. The door trims receive a black-beige combo and a chrome finish for the bezels surrounding the AC vent and door handles on the high-end variants. Also, the 1-DIN music system in the previous variant is replaced by the 2-DIN system along with Bluetooth integration for music streaming and phone calls. On the exterior, there are chrome garnishing for fog lamps and headlamp surroundings and a chrome strip on the boot.
Introduced in 2012, the SAIL is aimed to be a global passenger car platform and it was designed specifically for the Indian and other rapidly developing countries.
