Jan 7, 2013: The Oats market in India dominated by Quaker Oats, Kellogs, Britannia and Marico is surely going to witness some hot battle in coming days. According to reports, Hindustan Unilever and Nestle India are planning to bring out their brand of Oats in India. They would be launching Oats under the brand name of Knorr and Maggi which is known for noodles. The companies with this launch will try to extend their noodle segment. India has been a very challenging market for all these companies though the Oats market is valued at Rs. 200 crore and is said to be growing 40% annually. The companies with various breakfast cereals like noodles, cornflakes etc. have really not been able to convince the people of India in changing their food habits. Qaker Oats dominates the Oats market in India with 35% market share followed by Safolla and Horlicks. With the launch of Knorr and Maggi Oats, it remains to be seen how much Hindustan Level and Nestle India are able to make their presence felt in the Indian breakfast cereal market which is estimated to be Rs.600 crore.
