On the 12th of December, 2020 companies stood seldom with their employees to celebrate Retail Employee day. It is a day in which the leader of an organization will spend a day with their employees and maybe even take them out. But this day was not celebrated like this a few years back. In fact, this tradition of celebrating retail employees started in 2013 in turkey when a company called the Boyner corporation along with 12000 of their associates in six companies celebrated the day. The following year all of Turkey’s retail associations which included two million employees celebrated RED day and from there, it slowly spread to different parts of the world.

Especially during the pandemic season, most of the retail employees had to go without pay and were called back into action when some restrictions were lifted. They risked their health so that customers would get served and businesses would keep running. Many companies saw to thank their employees for their service during these hard times. To commemorate this day, Godrej appliances launched their #thankyouretailwarriors initiative. The Godrej group wanted to take this opportunity to acknowledge the efforts of all members who work in retail operations and appreciate their contribution to the sector and the economy in these tough times. The company hopes that through the initiative the brand urges all its customers buying over the pandemic period to thank the customer advisor who helped them with their appliance purchase on social media or via a joint selfie with the retail employee on the shop floor.

Kamal Nandi, Business Head and Executive Vice President for Godrej Appliances said that the retail employees are the backbone of the industry. He also added that they are essentially the ‘face’ of the business to the end consumer and ensures that the customers find what they are looking for. He commended employees for their bravery to come out and help the customers during the pandemic and that the customers should take a moment to thank them for their service.
