Google introduced a new update to Chrome on Android that enables users to open tabs in the grid instead of stacked cards. Along with this, the app also provides the option to combine tabs when more than a few of them are open. Tab groups are one of the best features available on the Chrome desktop. Google launched earlier this year a new iteration of Chrome named ‘Chrome 88.’ It’s been a while since Chrome for desktop added support for tab groups. The feature helped bring order to chaos to those who had a habit of holding numerous tabs open. After being reviewed on Android in 2019, the feature is now being rolled out on the mobile app as well.
The all-new tab interface is supported by default on all Android devices that are still running Chrome. If you upgrade to the latest version of Chrome and still can’t see a new interface, you can allow it manually by going to ‘chrome:/flags/#enable-tab-grid-layout’ in the window tab. After that, you’re stated to have to restart the app twice to get a new layout to stay. If you’ve got a new interface up and running, you’d be able to move tabs and put them on top of each other to build groups, close to how applications on Android home screens can be positioned on top of each other to create directories.
Chances are you will not be a big fan of this change because it brings a touch of difficulty to the experience, even though it’s for the good of the company. The good news is that you can uninstall grid configuration and tab groups with a single move. All of these latest changes can allow users to work and perform their work effectively while saving them time. Most phones will display six tabs at once; this interface has a switch option at the top to permit grid view, which ensures that this view would not allow Incognito tabs to appear next to normal tabs.
The grid view functionality has been available to iOS users for some time now. This latest update for Android users on Chrome 88 has already been made available to users who have recently installed Chrome 88 while others are already using it via a side-server. It will soon be open to any Google Chrome user in the region.
