Google releases Android 5.0 Lollipop update

The much anticipated update for Android after Kit Kat, Android 5.0 has been released. Though there were reports earlier that Google has not been able to create a stable version of Android 5.0 now the news is out that the update has been released. This was confirmed after Google made it official in a blog post. Named as Android Lollipop it is reported that apart from Google Nexus device, initially Google Play Edition smartphones and tablets will also get the update.

Android 5.0 Lollipop has got a host of new features which includes better battery life. The new update which has a totally revamped design gives its users a improved security and suppor. This would be helpful to maintain multiple user profiles on same device.

Though it is not clear on which all handset manufacturers would upgrade to Android 5.0 but there is news that Motorola would be giving this update for first- and second-generation Moto G and X smartphones. Sony and HTC has also indicated that they would be giving the Android 5.0 update for its Xpera Z series models and One and One (M8) smartphones withing 90 days of its release. Rest of the biggies like Samsung and LG are yet to confirm their plans about Android Lollipop updates for their handsets.
