GOSF 2014 Shopping Fest Witnesses Double The Traffic

The online shopping frenzy had escalated to a great extent with the Great Online Shopping Festival (GOSF) held by Google last week. Over 450 online retailers took part in the shopping fest and numerous brands across several categories took to the GOSF as a platform to launch their offerings.

Notably, a survey by market researcher IMRB, the three-day GOSF’s official website has witnessed double the traffic as compared to the last year. Also, e-commerce portals including Jabong, Snapdeal and AmazonIndiahave occupied the top three slots of most visited websites.

Also, the research concluded that maximum number of shoppers hailed from small towns and cities. Notably, the sectors C, D and E towns across the country have witnessed an increase in the number of online shoppers in comparison to the last year, revealed Ratna Bhushan.

One of the main reasons for the increase in the traffic is the contribution of websites such as BestMediaInfo.com that made the online retailers, coupon and cashback websites and digital experts to understand the operation of GOSF 2014 and how they can take advantage of it.

Regarding the GOSF 2014, Jabong’s Co-Founder and Managing Director, Praveen Sinha claimed that this year they witnessed a great response from consumers. The website witnessed four to five folds increase in its revenue as compared to the regular days. Also, the mobile traffic increased by about six times as compared to the GOSF 2013, added the executive.

This year, GOSF become a trend setter in the e-commerce industry with customers even buying real estate online. The increased traffic from mobile phones has brought about more popularity to the online shopping festival.

Regarding the growth of GOSF, Lavin Punjabi, President at Affinity, a leading ad network claimed that the GOSF has shown momentum to the growing e-commerce industry in the country.
