Govt launches a 3-month campaign to provide KCC

The government had declared an extension of the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) facility to the fishermen and animal husbandry farmers to benefit them for their demand on to the working capital, in the 2018-19 budgets.

The government launched a nationwide drive to provide the KCC to all eligible animal farming, dairy, and fishery farmers in the country, it’s targeting to enroll around the 2 crores in people in three months.

“Nationwide AHDF Kisan Credit Card” launched on 15 Nov 2021  to 15 Feb 2022 by Union Minister of Animal Husbandry, Dairying, and Fisheries Parshottam Rupala virtual in a way.

The aim of this campaign is t provide Kisan credit cards to all qualified animal husbandry, dairy, and fishery farmers in the country and ensure that they get institutional credit.

The department of Financial Services, the department of animal husbandry and dairy, and the department of fisheries are organising this campaign.

The circular conveys the detailed guidelines for organizing campaigns that have been issued to the states on 10 Nov.

The requirement instructions to banks and the state government have also been issued by the Department of Financial Services.

Total there are 1.5 crore fishermen and 9-10 crore farmers estimated to be engaged in animal husbandry and the dairy sector.

The department of Dairying and Animal Husbandry Atul Chaturvedi said the center is targeting to provide Kisan credit cards to around the two crores qualified in fishery, animal husbandry, and dairy within three months of the campaign.

By added he said, the farmers have the possibility to get a credit limit at Rs. 1.6 lakhs on the Kisan Credit Cards without any subsidy.

The Fisheries Department Secretary, Jatin Nath Swain, said the target is to provide for the fishermen on the credit facility to almost 50 lakh.

Again he said to add, in the deficiency of institutional credit the fishermen can take the credit from money lenders at high-interest rates.

The Department Secretary of Financial Services Debashish Panda said we had a series of meetings in the last few couples on how to set up the campaign to ensure that the goals are set by the departments were achieved in the form of issuance of credit cards to farmers across the country.

In the previous year, the government has obtained a lot of traction as far as the Kisan Credit Cards are concerned and the goal of issuing about 2.5 crore credit cards has been achieved.
