Grand Hyatt Mumbai Hotel and Residences are pleased to announce the promotion of Obaid Khatri, previously Senior Events Manager, to the position of Director of Events. Obaid brings over fifteen years of experience in the hospitality and food industry and has been an invaluable member of the events and banquets team at Grand Hyatt Mumbai for the past two and a half years, stepping up to lead the department’s operations.
Obaid joined Grand Hyatt Mumbai in February 2022 as Senior Events Manager. His promotion to Director of Events is a testament to his exceptional service, significant performance, and versatility. During his tenure, he has played a key role in overseeing and coordinating successful events, managing sales, and ensuring exceptional guest experiences.
He has effectively managed internal customer grievances and inquiries, taking a leadership role in event operations while regularly updating top management on departmental performance. In his new role, Obaid will lead the events department, focusing on human resource management, maximizing team productivity, and upskilling the team. Known for his multitasking abilities and flexible scheduling, he is dedicated to meeting both business and guest expectations.

Obaid’s journey with Grand Hyatt Mumbai began earlier in his career, serving as Events Sales Executive and Event Sales Manager from 2012 to 2015, and Senior Events Manager from 2016 to 2019. His illustrious career spans over 15 years, during which he has worked with prestigious hospitality brands such as Trident, JW Marriott Sahar, Oyo, and WhiteHat Jr.
