Gujarat tops Pickleball Nationals medals tally; India sets stage for world’s biggest pickleball league PWR DUPR India League in March

NOIDA, January 29: Gujarat finished as the outright winners at the 4th Indian Pickleball Association (IPA) Pickleball Nationals at Bennett University in Greater NOIDA on Sunday as they left close competitors Maharashtra and Delhi far behind in the medals tally. In total, Gujarat won 23 medals — a whopping 11 gold, seven silver and five bronze medals to finish their 4th IPA Nationals campaign on a high. Maharashtra finished second with 14 medals including six gold, followed by Delhi with 16 medals including four gold.

The event –which saw a huge increase in state participation, highlighting the growing popularity of pickleball across India –was a PWR700 event on the PWR World Tour whereby players in the Pro-Open category earned 700 ranking points for their victorious performances.

PWR (Pickleball World Rankings) is a unified global ranking system that provides players with a clear and structured pathway to earn points, improve their standings, and qualify for the ultimate competition—the PWR World Series. Players accumulate points through the PWR World Tour, which spans multiple regions worldwide.

Looking ahead, the PWR DUPR India League, scheduled for March 2025, is set to be the world’s biggest pickleball league yet. With a staggering USD 6,50,000 in prize purse, the event will feature 36 elite players competing across six teams from March 17 to 23 at the iconic Jio World Centre in Mumbai.

The men’s lineup boasts top-tier players like Will Howells, Harsh Mehta, and Aditya Ruhela, along with Armaan Bhatia and Dusty Boyer, the champion and runner-up of the Men’s Pro category at the PWR DUPR India Masters held at DLTA in October 2024. On the women’s side, legendary USA player Megan Fudge DeHeart will headline the competition, joined by other stars such as Sofia Sewing, Yu-Chieh Hsieh, and Emilia Schmidt. This event promises to set new benchmarks for pickleball, showcasing the sport’s global talent on a grand stage.
