  • Google is rolling out some of the Assistant’s most helpful features to more devices.

Available in more than 90 countries, Google Assistant helps people get things done across smart speakers and smart displays, phones, TVs, cars, etc. Google has announced that they are adding its voice match and default speaker selection features to all Google Assistant compatible devices. Google product manager Praveen Chandran says that the additions are part of the company’s efforts to support an open ecosystem and bring Google Assistant features to everyone all over the world.

Home, made easier

Voice Match enables the Assistant to understand which member of a household is speaking, to personalize responses. The preferred speaker selection enables the users to choose a preferred option among several devices. With ‘scheduled actions’, coming out later this year, you’ll be able to ask the assistant to turn on/off or start/stop a compatible smart device.

Google is on the way to expand its hot word sensitivity setting to make a device more or less sensitive to the activation phrase “Hey Google”. It also takes advantage of the devices that pair Google Assistant with visual content to offer customer’s recommended recipes. It makes things more personalized and family-friendly to attract customers.

More useful for travellers

Google Assistant can help you check-in to your flight, save and retrieve your boarding pass etc. it helps you book rooms, check availability and pay through Google Play. It helps out with transition across a wide range of languages which makes your travelling easier.

Google ensures that it will be rolling out the features to all Assistant-enabled devices this week. Last month, Google piloted a program with voice match to verify the secure purchases on Assistant-enabled smart speakers and smart displays.

Although it may not be the most secure method of using your voice as security unlike a fingerprint or face unlock. Voice Match allows the assistant to tell the difference between who is addressing it. It seems to be with higher accuracy and effectiveness. Still, it has limits on how much money you can spend using just your voice as security.
