Honda Racing India riders return to racetrack with full strength for Round 3 of 2022 Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship

India, 5 August 2022: As the 2022 Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship (INMRC) and IDEMITSU Honda India Talent Cup ride into midway of the season this weekend, Honda Racing India riders are all set to deliver action packed performances at Madras Motor Race Track (MMRT) in Chennai.

The weekend extravaganza will witness 38 riders on Honda machines in IDEMITSU Honda India Talent Cup classes, Honda Hornet 2.0 One Make Race & Pro-Stock 165cc class of national championship. Leading Honda’s charge in Round 3 of Pro-Stock 165cc of National Championship are Rajv Sethu and Senthil of IDEMITSU Honda SK69 Racing Team and Abhishek Vasudev of ASK Honda Racing Team. 

While the scuffle happens on top, 20 next gen millennial riders will engage in their own combat in the IDEMITSU Honda India Talent Cup NSF250R and CBR150R categories. Supporting the IDEMITSU Honda India Talent Cup is Honda Hornet 2.0 One Make race. This round will provide opportunity to 15 Honda customers who will experience the thrill of racing riding on Honda Hornet 2.0 race machines.

Speaking on the upcoming round, Mr. Prabhu Nagaraj – Operating Officer, Brand & Communication, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India said, “Honda racing India riders are all set to enter the racetrack with strong intentions of upping-the-ante in championship. While the duo of Rajiv & Senthil from IDEMITSU Honda SK69 Racing team will race to showcase their full capabilities to cover the gap in the PS165 class. Along with this, our 20 young budding riders of IDEMITSU Honda India Talent Cup are ready to take on the racetrack with eyes firmly set on top spot in the battle for glory. This weekend will surely be an interesting one as our battalion of riders is all charged to set the race rolling again.”

MRF MMSC FMSCI Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship – ProStock 165cc

Entering round 3 on the back of three podium finishes, the IDEMITSU Honda SK69 Racing team currently holds total of 70 points in the championship. Having 3 podium finishes and total 48 points, Rajiv Sethu’s points tally put him on 2nd position after the 2 rounds of championship so far. Whereas, his teammate Senthil Kumar is currently placed 9th in championship standings with 22 points. On the other hand, ASK Honda Racing Team’s Abhishek Vasudev enters this round with 18 points.

IDEMITSU Honda India Talent Cup NSF 250R and CBR150R

The weekend will see a grid of 12 young guns fighting it out in the IDEMITSU Honda India Talent Cup NSF250R category. Following his back-to-back 4 wins, Pune’s Sarthak Chavan (16 years) dominates the NSF250R class with a strong lead of 37 points over Chennai’s Shyam Sundar (19 years) who currently holds the second place with 63 points. Next on the list is 21-year-old AS James from Bengaluru with 57 points.

Meanwhile, 14-year-old Raheesh Khatri from Mumbai heads the scoreboard with total 100 points in 8 riders grid of CBR150R class. Following him is Chennai’s 18-year-old Shyam Babu (2nd with 51 points). With just 1 point behind is Bengaluru’s 18-year-old Harshith V Bogar (3rd with 50 points).
