Hatten Edge Pte. Ltd. has signed a Comprehensive Collaboration Agreement with Huawei International Pte. Ltd., a global leader in information and communications technology (ICT).

Highlights:

Huawei and Hatten will collaborate to explore and develop business opportunities in key areas such as Cloud Computing, Virtual World solutions, Digital Entertainment, Data Centers, Renewable Energy, and Fintech Infrastructure, among others, by combining their respective capabilities in technology, operational resources, and business networks.

Hatten’s continued efforts and commitment in its strategic pivot are reflected in the cooperation, which will serve as yet another crucial catalyst for the company’s digital and blockchain business operations.

Huawei is working with Hatten to co-design and co-market breakthrough cloud goods and services, including gaming cloud solutions, using its world-class knowledge and cutting-edge technologies in cloud and enterprise intelligence.

Hatten will focus on the combined development of environmentally friendly data centers in Melaka as part of this agreement. Both companies will also work together to create large-scale solar installations and other renewable energy options in the region, which the Group will manage.

Under the CCA, both companies will use their respective capabilities in technology, operational resources, and business networks to jointly explore and develop opportunities in Melaka and the region in cloud computing and enterprise intelligence, renewable energy, data centers, and fintech infrastructure.

Due to the pandemic’s impact and the fast-paced digital transformation, Southeast Asia has seen phenomenal growth in digital entertainment, including gaming and esports, with the Malaysian gaming market alone expected to grow at a 9.60 percent annual growth rate (CAGR 2021-2026), resulting in a projected market volume of US$676 million by 2026.

HUAWEI CLOUD is currently one of the fastest-growing major cloud service providers in the world.

Similarly, the Southeast Asian cloud computing market is predicted to grow to US$40.32 billion by 2025. The Hatten-Huawei collaboration will also focus on the joint building of environmentally friendly data centers in Melaka to support Hatten’s ongoing digital ambitions and to meet the region’s growing demand for data centers from cloud service providers.

Furthermore, both companies want to collaborate on possible large-scale solar facility opportunities in the region, bolstering the Group’s sustainability initiatives. To begin, Huawei’s smart inverters will be used in Hatten’s first PV project, which will see over 6,000 solar panels installed on the roof of Melaka’s largest mall, Dataran Pahlawan Melaka Megamall, in 2022.

Melaka, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a prominent tourist attraction in Southeast Asia, with significant hospitality and commercial property enterprises and assets.

Hatten recently completed a thorough strategic study to repurpose its malls and pivot its business model toward blockchain-related and digital economy trends, as well as digital asset potential.
