Most of the 90’s kids grew up watching Arnold Schwarzenegger’s action-packed Terminator series in which a Machine is sent from the future which is overrun by the Cybernetic Organisms and humans have to fight to survive from extermination.

Even though it has been decades since the machines were defeated by Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese, the innate fear of a world being overrun by machines having sentience has refused to loosen its grip on us. Robots are in each and every part of our life. Is this the fabled rise of the machines? It could be, but unlike the movies, we’re not going to be overrun by them. Artificial Intelligence has made Manufacturing faster with fewer errors. Since machines have no emotions it can take decisions without any delay and also go to areas which we are usually afraid to go. From predicting market trends to calculating the thrust vectors of the next launch to Mars, machines and Artificial Intelligence are an integral part of our life now.

Artificial Intelligence

What is Artificial Intelligence or more commonly known as AI? It is any form of intelligence that is manmade or not organic in nature. It is a mechanical or digital representation of our brain but not as powerful as our biological one. Artificial Intelligence is seen in almost all electronic devices or more commonly in smart devices. They learn your patterns and habits and custom tailor your needs and experience accordingly. Even though it may give you serious stalker vibes this is the new norm and this is what the future looks like where machines controlled by artificial intelligence do things for us. For example, you have a smart fridge that knows what all things you have in your fridge. When your stock of milk is running low, the fridge with the help of AI will order milk for you. This is how the future looks like.

Human Evolution

As we all have studies biology we are well aware of Charles Darwin and his “Theory of Evolution”. We all know evolution is an ongoing process and we are constantly evolving. There is a concept that the next stage in human evolution is done will be anthropogenic or done by humans. This is augmented with the fact that in the future we will have mechanically enhanced humans and human brains linked with AI that can upload our conscience, surf the net and exponentially advance our brain capacity. This will make us superior beings. This is made famous by Dan Browns’ recent novel the Origins. So even though judgment day is not going to come, the machines are here to stay.
