The #TheDriveWithin campaign was established by Hyundai Motor India Ltd to honour the spirit of sports and to highlight the remarkable real-life experiences of four Indian women cricketers. Smriti Mandhana, Taniyaa Bhatia, Shafali Verma, and Jemimah Rodrigues are four Indian women cricketers whose inspiring real-life tales will be included in the ad.
The campaign, which will run from March to April 2022, will highlight Hyundai’s dedication to inspiring female athletes and commemorating International Women’s Day. It will chronicle genuine events and tales from the lives of four Indian women cricketers who have made major and lasting contributions to the game in India.
The first film tells the tale of Smriti Mandhana’s life and the beginnings of her career as a cricketer. Smriti’s mother and family helped help her recognise her actual objectives. The film depicts Smriti’s encouragement and support as she pursued her dream of becoming an Indian women’s cricketer.
The second film is based on the true storey of Shafali Verma, who was determined to play cricket with boys her age. It also shows Shafali’s determination as she has her hair chopped to compete in the sport with boys.
When she approaches her father and says, “Papaji, Baal kaat do, balla chalana hai,” the film captures the zenith of her perseverance.
Taniyaa Bhatia’s genuine tale is told in the third film, in which she uses her height and the tradition of wearing gloves to become a wicketkeeper batter. Taniyaa, a young girl, begins the picture by swinging from one rung to the next on a monkey ladder.
The film also highlights her parents’ role in encouraging her to pursue a career as a wicketkeeper batter by entrusting her with her father’s wicketkeeper gloves. The last film follows Jemima Rodriguez as she pursues her dream of becoming an Indian Women’s Cricketer, with her school principal challenging her to make the team.
When she fails in the selection process, the film shows her determination to try again and conquer her obstacles. As the National Anthem sounds around the stadium, Jemimah fulfils her dreams, standing tall in a cricket field wearing the Indian Cricket Jersey.
Unsoo Kim, MD & CEO, Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), commented on the campaign’s launch, saying that Hyundai and the Spirit of Sports have a lot in common. Athletes all around the world are motivated by their passion and commitment, as well as years of gruelling training that prepares them to compete at the highest levels on the international stage.
Hyundai’s #TheDriveWithin campaign is yet another effort to motivate athletes by sharing actual stories of Indian women cricketers who have shown guts and commitment to succeed.
Smriti Mandhana, Taniyaa Bhatia, Shafali Verma, and Jemimah Rodrigues each have a film that captures a pivotal time in their life. Each film shows how a significant figure in the lives of these young and brilliant Women Cricketers has encouraged, pushed, and supported them on their quest to discover #TheDriveWithin.
