Hyundai Mobis, South Korean company is known globally for Automotive parts and Armored vehicles. It forms the “Parts and service” arm for the well-recognized South Korean automakers like Kia Motors, Genesis Motors, and Hyundai Motor Company. South Korea’s biggest Automobile parts company, Hyundai Mobis said that it will invest 25 million US dollars in an eminent UK Augmented Reality company. Hyundai Mobis has tilted its focus on AR HUD solutions and made a significant investment with Envisics to work together on future mobility technologies. Both the companies have joined hands and working together in bringing out the best AR HUD solution for vehicles by 2025.
Currently, only three types of HUD are available. They will project dashboard information in the windshield or in the driver’s field of view. It will help in gaining information about the road and vehicle conditions. AR HUD is a next-generation safety feature for the automobiles. It is an upgraded version of the traditional dashboard whereas enables vehicles to communicate information more than the former one. It will indicate how the vehicle imbibes and understand the environment, dangers, plan routes, etc.
The concept of incorporating Augmented Reality with head-up displays is to enhance driver experience and ensure roads to be safer while driving. AR HUD solutions match the driving information with the road ahead one is traveling in real-time and displays to the driver. This technology will also enhance the driver’s trust in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Autonomous Vehicle technology.
Hyundai Mobis along with AR HUD is planning to develop autonomous driving incorporated with AR HUD targeting mass production of vehicles by 2025. The ultimate aim is to enhance safety and convenience to drivers while driving by providing AR HUD solutions. Hyundai Mobis stated that this new technology is in the inception stage and will bring out a major impact in the automobile industry in the upcoming years.
