ICICI has launched a new scheme for skilled workers such as welders, carpenters, electricians, painters, tailors, computer mechanics, auto mechanics, manufacturing operators, RO repair technicians, small and medium business owners, and grocery store owners in Delhi, as said by the company in a release.

During the Corona period, the Modi Government announced a package of around Rs 21 lakh crore. Under this package, more importance is given for making people self-independent by providing loans. Banks or housing finance companies have facilitated the process of getting all types of loans. Many banks are now lending on nominal terms or conditions.

ICICI Home Finance on Sep 16, 2020, said it has launched a new loan scheme ‘Apna Ghar Dreamz’, with credit amount within the range of Rs 2lakh – Rs 50 lakh, for skilled workers employed in the informal sector in Delhi. The loan scheme is aimed at the informal sector of the population to have a home of their own, but may not have all the documents that a formal financial institution would require, the company said.

Customers looking forward to availing the special 20- year term loan would need to provide documents such as Aadhaar card and PAN card details, and bank statements of the past six months. The applicant should have a minimum account balance of Rs 1,500 for a loan up to 5lakh and Rs 3,000 for a loan above 5 lakh.

Anirudh Kamani (MD and CEO, ICICI Home Finance Company Limited) said in an official statement that, “At ICICI Home Finance, we aim to offer loans to the hard-working professionals in the informal sector of the economy who are skilled in various jobs and local business people to fulfill their dream of having their own home. Since our branch employees are residents with an understanding of the regional economy, our technical experts and in-house legal experts assist in processing home loan applications in a fast and hassle-free manner with minimum documentation activities.

Customers can also get all the benefits of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) which is a credit-linked subsidy scheme (CLSS) for Lower Income Groups/ Economically Weaker Sections (EWS/LIG) and Middle-Class Income Groups (MIG I & II), ICICI said in the official release. Under PMAY-CLSS, a borrower is also eligible for a maximum subsidy of up to Rs 2.67 lakh.
