Dec 24, 2012: Scandinavian retail firm IKEA with its core product as Furniture Products and which has presence in over 40 countries with over 300 stores will be entering India without its cafes and restaurants. The Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) in India while clearing its Euro 1.5 billion proposal has struck of 18 product categories from a list of 30 products which IKEA wanted to bring into India. The products which can be sold by IKEA include:
Furniture Products
Knocked down furniture
Furniture accessories
Kitchen Utensils &
Cushions, Mattresses, Curtains, Window Shades etc.
Product categories which IKEA will not be able to sell in India include:
Home and office use products,
Stationery
Textile Products
Toys, Books and Gadgets
Food and Beverages &
Consumer Electronics and Accessories
