The Academy School (TAS), Pune, has started learning stations of the National Education Policy (NEP) and Finland education system on its school premises that will give the students a first-hand hands-on experience of applied learning.

“Years of research have shown that children learn through play. These NEP Finnish Learning stations will help children develop all sorts of skills through play, such as cognitive, social, emotional, physical and critical thinking abilities. They will develop key transversal competencies that help them succeed in future learning,” said Dr Maithili Tambe, CEO, TAS.

Each station will help them learn on a developmentally appropriate level. Teachers will use SISU Box – with learning materials designed by Finnish Experts and provide experience to children thereby developing 21st-century skills and providing real-world connections.

“NEP experience stations at TAS are based on Finnish early education’s five essential learning areas, i.e. Rich World of Languages, Diverse forms of Expression, Me and My Community, Exploring and Interacting with my Environment, I Grow Move & Develop. These areas essentially cover all aspects that students and parents look for in a good education system that safeguards their and their country’s future,” said Mrs. Saroj Raman, Principal, TAS, adding that each child would be carrying their experience and assessment folders back home.

The NEP and Finland education place the highest emphasis on a child’s overall growth, development, health and well-being in addition to academic skills. Considering this, the NEP-Finnish stations are set up in order to allow children to develop their creativity, curiosity and self-expression. It will also help them hone skills in the areas of mathematics and linguistics.
