  1. Your journey from Nagpur to California is truly inspiring. Could you share some key moments or experiences that strongly shaped your career in visual effects?

My journey from Nagpur to California has been shaped by key experiences that fueled my passion for visual effects. Early exposure to storytelling through video games and movies sparked my interest, which grew during my undergraduate studies in software engineering. Significant projects like the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017 and Justin Bieber’s Purpose World Tour India 2017 honed my skills in production. Realizing my true passion, I pursued a Master of Fine Arts in Animation and Visual Effects at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Joining Ingenuity Studios and contributing to projects like “The Boys” and Netflix’s “One Piece,” as well as developing innovative CGI techniques for “Shooting Stars,” were pivotal milestones. Becoming a member of the Visual Effects Society and a judge for the Visual Effects Awards 2024 further solidified my career, emphasizing the importance of perseverance, adaptability, and pushing the boundaries of visual storytelling.

  1. What early inspirations led you to pursue a career in cinema and television?

From a young age, I was captivated by the magic of storytelling through cinema and television. Growing up, I spent countless hours playing video games and discussing movies at the local rental store. These early experiences sparked my fascination with the visual medium and its ability to transport audiences to different worlds. The combination of immersive narratives and stunning visuals in both games and films ignited my passion and set me on the path to pursue a career in cinema and television.

Working on significant projects like Justin Bieber’s Purpose World Tour India 2017 and the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup were pivotal experiences in my career. These high-profile events provided invaluable exposure to large-scale production environments and the opportunity to collaborate with top professionals in the industry. The scale and complexity of Justin Bieber’s Purpose World Tour required meticulous attention to detail, the ability to work under tight deadlines, and taught me the importance of effective communication and teamwork, as well as the necessity of being adaptable in a fast-paced setting. The 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup honed my technical skills and deepened my understanding of live sports production, which is both dynamic and unpredictable. Both opportunities advanced my artistic development by pushing me to innovate and refine my craft under pressure. They provided a solid foundation in production techniques and project management, which have been instrumental in my work in visual effects and animation. These experiences reinforced my passion for creating compelling visual narratives and prepared me for future challenges in the industry.

  1. Can you tell us about your role and involvement in Horizon: An American Saga?

In Horizon: An American Saga, I worked as an FX Artist. My responsibilities included creating dynamic simulations such as fire, explosions, and rainfall, as well as realistic simulations for flowing rivers. I also developed CG crowds and designed various effects for creatures. This role required a blend of creativity and technical skill to ensure that these elements were seamlessly integrated into the film, enhancing the overall visual storytelling and immersive experience for the audience.

  1. What do you hope audiences will take away from watching Horizon: An American Saga?

I hope audiences watching Horizon: An American Saga will be captivated by its rich storytelling by Kevin Costner and immersive visual effects by Ingenuity Studios, transporting them to another time and place. I want them to feel deeply connected to the characters and the journey they undergo, experiencing the emotional highs and lows alongside them. The film aims to inspire viewers with a true depiction of America’s history in the Old West, highlighting the impact of the American Civil War and the experiences of Native Americans during that era. Ultimately, I hope the film inspires viewers to appreciate the artistry and effort that goes into creating such a vivid and compelling cinematic experience, leaving them with a lasting impression of both the story and the visual spectacle.

  1. What can you tell us about the status and plans for the remaining chapters of Horizon: An American Saga particularly as chapter two is presently in post-production? How are the four chapters organized?

As of now, chapter two of Horizon: An American Saga is in post-production, with meticulous attention being given to visual effects, editing, and sound design to ensure it meets the high standards set by the first chapter. The series is structured to tell a comprehensive story of America’s journey over a 12-year span, divided into four distinct chapters. Each chapter focuses on a different aspect of this period, offering a detailed portrayal of the historical and cultural changes that shaped the nation. Kevin Costner’s vision for the series is to create a deeply immersive and educational experience, with each chapter building on the last to provide a cohesive and engaging narrative. The ensemble cast and detailed storytelling aim to draw audiences into the rich tapestry of America’s past, offering both entertainment and insight into the country’s history.
