India is ranked 18th globally for the most desirable countries to work. However, around 70 to 80 percent of Indians prefer moving towards overseas locations to work. These details were revealed by the Boston Consulting Group, The Network and total jobs.com from a global research.
The study concluded that United States has been ranked the top with a majority of global respondents willing to move there for work. US is followed by other western destinations includingUnited Kingdom,Canada,GermanyandSwitzerland. Thus, these western regions occupy the top five on the list of desired countries to work, claim the survey.
Coming to the positions six to ten, the respondents have preferred the other regions such as France, Australia, Spain, Italy and Sweden (in the same order) as their work destinations. And, Indiaas aforementioned is the 18th among the G20 nations.
Usually, the Asia Pacific regions do not generate interest among foreigners as a preferred work destination as the western regions such asUnited StatesandEurope. The primary reason for the same is that the foreigners would definitely face difficulty in learning the Asian languages. However, the report notes that some rapidly growing Asian countries are on the verge of reclaiming the workers they have lost previously.
On a global scale, 20 percent of the participants who were a part of the survey already posses international work experience and around 64 percent of them wish to travel abroad to work. As per the survey, 70 to 80 percent of the Indians already live abroad or prefer to move to a different country for work.
In India, there is a good work life balance, learning and career development, job security and appreciation for the work done. These workplace attributes are crucial and they are primary reasons for the country to occupy the 18th position in the survey.
The study clearly points that the maximum respondents in developing countries want to move abroad and for instance, 97 percent of Pakistanis want to move overseas for work. Then come,NetherlandsandFrancewith 94 percent of them wanting to move to a different country. On the other hand, in US,UKandGermanythat have convincing economic stability and development, less than 50 percent respondents wish to leave home for work.
