Last month, Indulekha, the personal care brand of Mosons Group of Kerala was sold to Hindustan Unilever. Now, the company is all set to launch a non-personal care brand called Indian Woman. The first products of the brand will be launched by April, stated the managing director, Fayas MP. The new brand Indian Woman will be launching products that will be manufactured in over 1,000 village panchayats of Kerala, he stated. It is also said that the initiative will be a completely non-profit one.

Indian Woman will introduce food products, household items such as egg beaters, and mixer grinder, and cleaning products. After five years, as soon as Moson’s non-compete clause along with HUL gets over, the brand will introduce personal care products. Last month, the company formed self-help group called Indian Women Charitable Trust as HUL finalized the takeover of Indulekha. Most earnings of the sale of the flagship personal care brand Indulekha will be pushed to the new initiative, he told.

The Indian Woman brand will set up a small scale manufacturing unit in all the 1,000 village panchayats. They are looking to employ local woman workforce as these units will be run by the woman entrepreneurs. They will manufacture products from the raw materials that are sourced naturally specific to each region.

Instead of limiting them run Vanitha hotels, and pickle units, they have to be raised to a higher level with proper assistance in marketing and technology. The products of Indian Woman brand will be sold in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and the Gulf initially. The manufacturing units in the villages will be the center of development.

Mosons has got over 1,500 inquiries to set up units and over 3,000 inquiries for the distribution of its products from Kerala alone. They are keen to send proposals to the state’s Ministry of Industries.
