Infra projects expected to route through NPG

Every infrastructure project is expected to route through the network planning group constituted under this initiative.

That helps in bringing down the logistics cost, Secretary in the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) Anurag Jain said. Things are in readiness.

The Empowered Group of Secretaries, NPG are constituted and the Technical Support Unit is more or less in place.

The secretary explained that the department has conducted one round of training with the departments of the government of India and held regional conferences across the states and barring the North-East, where it would happen soon.

Asked states to put in their layers. The target is to get all the layers states on the portal by March 31.

 What intend to do is that after April 1, 2022, and every project which is more than Rs 500 crore, is an infrastructure project will be routed through this Jain said. Making the plan more efficient and effective in the help of the process.

The network planning group will clear the projects as all infrastructure projects would have to come here.

Instead of departments making the detailed project reports directly, at the planning stage, they will approach the network planning group.

He said after its clearance, the project would follow the normal procedure of approval by the finance ministry of the Cabinet, depending upon the projects.

 So before finalizing the DPR by putting the relevant information on the portal and railways can see whether the proposed track is crossing through public land and private property, forest.

The secretary informed that they have pursued all the states to put information on the portal as soon as possible, and digitized land records will help in this.

 Finance Minister said the PM Gatishakti National Master Plan is a transformative approach for economic growth.

And sustainable development is driven by seven engines: roads, railways, airports, ports, mass transport, waterways, and logistics infrastructure that is worded in the budget speech.

Also added is that the scope of the plan will encompass seven engines for economic transformation, seamless multimodal connectivity, and logistics efficiency.

That will include infrastructure developed by state governments plan. The focus areas will be planning; financing, including through innovative ways, use of technology, and speedier implementation.

Execution of projects with the view to address the issues of multi-modal, last-mile connectivities.
