The Sun Group-owned team franchise, Sunrisers Hyderabad, revealed on Tuesday that about 13 sponsors will be signing for the upcoming Indian Premier League, which is scheduled to begin in the UAE on September 19. The renowned cement company, JK Lakshmi Cements Ltd., who was the primary sponsor of the 2016 IPL champions, leads the list of sponsors, this time.
JK Lakshmi Cements Ltd. also had signed as the title sponsor earlier this year in January and retained their franchisee for the tournament which will start next month. The title sponsor’s logo will be on the “jersey-front” of the team players and the main sponsors are Ralco Tyres and Valvoline’s company whose logos are to be placed on the upper right back of the jersey.
Many other big shots also have signed as sponsors of IPL season 13 which include Reliance Jio, Fantasy sports platform Dream 11, Jai Raj Steel, Kansai Nerolac paints Ltd, and Colgate, whose company logos will be on the team’s match kits. Other franchise partners include Tyka sports equipment company, Fan Code, Virtual Reality sports IB cricket, and Double Horse food brands.
Despite these tough times, the sponsors have shown tremendous support and interest in it, as informed by K. Shanmugam, Chief Executive Officer of Sunriser Hyderabad. He also added, “we are very proud that the great support given to our partners has inspired the team to do their best in the game, and this time the Orange Army is looking forward to seeing their results even better than the other year.
Mint also reported earlier that the eight franchises are sprinting to sign up for the last-minute sponsors and that the new franchise has also received lower payments for the IPL T20 Tournament due to this pandemic. The Control Board for Cricket in India moved to the United Arab Emirates-based on the Covid-19 prohibition. Since the matches can only be held in the vacant stadium, and even with this, they have ensured that the owners of the franchise will not earn any substantial income this year with the aid of selling tickets to consumers.
The main part is that IPL will have a major impact and will also generate consumer interest in the brands associated with it.
