May 23, 2023: After two successful editions, Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles is thrilled to announce the third edition of the Ibex Trail, the brand’s marquee ride to the mountains under its Jawa Yezdi Nomads initiative. This time, the itinerary becomes more exciting and adventurous with the riders heading off the beaten path to the captivating landscapes of Zanskar.
This year, the epic adventure will feature an 11-day ride between 13th to 23rd July, covering a total distance of 1,132 km. With demanding roads, tracks and trails passing through mountain passes of the Zanskar region, scaling heights of up to 17,480 ft., this journey will take the riders through breath-taking locations along the scenic route: Manali – Jispa – Purne – Padum – Pensi La – Photoksar – Leh – Sarchu – Manali.
Named after the region’s natural copper deposits (Zan) and its valley (Skar), Zanskar is renowned for its majestic Zanskar Range, which separates Ladakh from the picturesque valleys of Kashmir. This awe-inspiring expedition will lead the Nomads through Zanskar’s demanding terrain, featuring high mountain passes like Shinku La (15,580 ft.) & Pensi La (14,400 ft.), sightings of the sacred Gumbo Rangjan mountain & glimpse of the Drang Drung glacier, traversing a medley of river crossings, off-road trails, and enchanting cold desert sands. Another interesting addition to this year’s itinerary is a trek to the Phugtal Gonpa, a historic monastery built around a natural cave, one of the few that can be reached only by foot. No ride to the Himalayas can be complete without a visit to Leh, and that is where the riders will be headed to in the return leg of their journey before finishing the ride in Manali.
Participation fee for the ride is INR 25,000 per person and covers accommodation for riders (on twin-sharing basis), daily breakfast and dinners, service, medical & luggage support, all permits and ride merchandise. To ensure a seamless and enjoyable riding experience, participants will be provided complete service backup support by experienced Jawa Yezdi technicians. Along with a comprehensive medical support team, the riders will also be imparted a basic first-aid training before the commencement of the ride to handle any minor injuries that may occur en-route.
