In collaboration with OnePoll, HARMAN, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., conducted a study that evaluated the influence of music on listeners around the world.
The study was conducted in connection with the celebration of the 75th anniversary of HARMAN’s world-renowned audio brand JBL. The amazing journey of JBL has been linked with music throughout history.
JBL has been the sound of countless musical evenings, from being the sound of Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium to becoming the rhythm of the Royal Opera House of Mumbai.
Music takes listeners to many ages and regions.
The JBL brand symbolizes music’s immersive power, having fuelled many of the world’s most famous events, including Tomorrowland and Coachella. Music can take participants to a specific moment, according to the participants.
During the Covid-19 health crisis, millions of people over the world turned to music to lift their spirits and find peace, showing music’s ability to transport the listener to another place and time.
- Music, as per 54% of respondents, is a time machine that can transfer them to a specific time in an instant.
- 41% of respondents said they want to attend an A.R. Rahman concert while 40% responded that they would like to hear Arijit Singh singing at a concert if they could travel back in time.
- 41% of votes, A.R. Rahman was chosen as the favourite musician of the year 2021 so far.
- 53% of respondents agreed that they’ve been listening to a lot more music than before.
- 73% of Indians made a playlist for their loved ones during the coronavirus period to make sure that their friends or loved ones also enjoy the comfort of music
Musical preferences change throughout time
41% of respondents claimed Bollywood to be their favourite music genre during the ages of 0 – 10 and with time, 51% said that their musical taste had significantly changed over the years, slightly due to other influences like friends, music TV, and social media. But despite listeners’ evolving musical tastes, 49% of Indians said that their favourite artists remain the same over the decade.
Live music still define the immersive experience
There is nothing like the emotion and exhilaration of a live concert, and the JBL name has been synonymous with live music amplification throughout the years. Over the years, JBL products have powered many performances and cooperated with renowned musicians.
The musical experience is enhanced by the sound quality
If listeners are to gain the complete rewards of music, quality is good. In India, 65 per cent of respondents reported that sound quality is a vital aspect of their enjoyment of music, highlighting one of the key themes that emerged during the pandemic: growing demand for high-quality audio equipment.
Recognizing the importance of high-quality audio equipment in sound quality, 45 per cent of Indians said their most main electronic item is speakers.
