They will gain physical and mental strength, as well as mentorship, coaching, and guidance so that they can emerge as capable, resilient, and independent women capable of aspiring to bright and prosperous futures without relying on others. “Young women from childcare institutions face additional vulnerability due to a lack of social support and financial independence, which pushes them into disadvantageous situations,” said Preeti Reddy, Chairwoman- Insights Division, South Asia at Kantar.

Kantar, the world’s leading marketing data and Analytics Company, has partnered with Durga and the WeLive Foundation to provide a residential 3-5 year transition Bridge Program in Bengaluru for women care leavers to build self-reliance in a caring environment. According to a report by the NGO -Make a Difference, approximately 35 million children are classified as Children in Need of Care and Protection (CNCP). According to the 2015 amendment to the JJ Act, nearly half a million people are registered in institutional care, and another half a million may be in institutions that have yet to register.

They could be orphans and abandoned children, children who have been abused or are in conflict with the law, children whose parents/legal guardians are unwilling or unable to care for them, children in at-risk or exploitative families, children with disabilities, mental illness, or children living with or affected by HIV/AIDS. The Bengaluru center, which will open on July 17, 2022, will house 30-35 young women from across India, including Jammu and Kashmir, Bihar, Delhi, West Bengal, and Karnataka. These women will continue their education, learn life skills, and work.

“WeLive has been focused on providing a comprehensive, robust program for care leavers, in a caring residential setting that will help them bridge their transition to the outside world,” N S Parthasarathy, Co-Founder of Mindtree Limited and Board member of WeLive Foundation, added. We are excited to launch our first center for young women who lack a support system, in collaboration with Kantar and Durga – a space where they can learn, thrive, and prepare for independent living.”
