The third model from the Kia motors for India will arrive as the Sonet compact SUV which will compete with the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Breza, Ford EcoSport, and the Tata Nexon. Kia has made some effort to differentiate between the design of Sonet with the Venue. This doesn’t have the Hyundai’s upright dimensions so seems more chunky and hunkered down instead. The iconic ‘Tiger Nose’ grille of Kia blends well with the headlights of the LED and brings more visible muscle to the sculpted bonnet. The paint wrapped around the C-pillar is another fascinating design element, giving the Sonet a mini-Land Rover Discovery Sport look. The width of the Sonet is accentuated at the back by large taillights linked by an LED light bar.

The company had unveiled the all-new sub-compact SUV on 7 August, Kia Sonet is now available for pre-booking. The car was opened to pre-bookings today. The Kia’s Sonet is supposed to interrupt the subcompact SUV section, close to the Kia Seltos. The company is yet to announce the variants price list but interested buyers can book the car for a fixed amount.

The Kia Sonet will have the same engine options like the Hyundai Venue, a 6-speed manual gearbox, and an intelligent manual gearbox (iMT) that will also be available. An iMT has auto-rev matching features and is designed to make driving simpler for new drivers by increasing the need to use the clutch during gear shifts. The Kia Sonet diesel will also come with a 6-speed automatic transmission option. The expected prices for the Kia Sonet are between Rs 8-12 lakh.

The all-new Kia Sonet can be booked through the company’s official website. The amount of booking has been fixed at around 25,000. To pre-book the new Sonet, the user will be required to provide basic details including personal data such as phone number and e-mail.

The Sonet will be equipped with various powertrain choices and multiple color choices including up to eight monotonous and three outer color options with dual-tone lighting. The first option is a  1.2-liter four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.0 T-GDi turbocharged direct-injection engine is the second option. Kia is also offering a 1.5-liter CRDi engine with an option of five transmissions for buyers interested in diesel.
