New Delhi, February 8th, 2022: KRAFTON, Inc., the South Korean video game company and makers of BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA (BGMI) introduced a demo video of virtual humans created based on hyper-realism technology as it seeks to pursue the development of interactive content and interactive virtual world (metaverse) in earnest.

Earlier in the January internal town hall meeting, CEO CH Kim announced his plan to actively utilize new technologies to bring about new values to gamers and creators and create unique content.

KRAFTON’s virtual human boasts realistic visuals by featuring motion-capture-based vivid movements, pupil movements enabled by rigging technique, colorful facial expressions, and even the soft and baby hairs on the skin. The tech company will use virtual humans in various aspects of its business including game characters, Esports, virtual influencers and singers. In addition to hyper-realism, extensive research will continue on numerous innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Text-to-Speech, Speech-to-Text, and Voice-to-Face to advance virtual humans into characters capable of interactive communication.

Along with virtual humans, a PUBG: Battlegrounds (hereinafter PUBG) cinematic video also produced with hyper-realism technology was introduced. The cinematic video, announcing PUBG’s switch to F2P, has been highly praised by fans for its cutting-edge graphic technology and a dynamic storyline on par with a real-life movie.

KRAFTON is also focusing on introducing virtual production content. It was first applied to Esports with the 2022 Esports trailer video. The clip shows using Unreal Engine how they blurred the line between the virtual and real worlds enabling a unique experience for Esports players to enter the world of the game.

“KRAFTON’s virtual human is the most advanced level of content that can be realized with hyper-realism technology,” said KRAFTON Creative Director Shin Seok-jin. “We are geared up for realizing an interactive virtual world (metaverse) in stages and will continue to introduce more advanced versions of virtual humans and content based on the belief in the infinite scalability of such technologies,” he added.

A demo video of virtual humans, which is being developed based on artificial intelligence and 3D-based hyper-realism technology of Unreal Engine, can be viewed on KRAFTON’s official YouTube channel.
