September 11, 2014: Austria based motorcycle manufacturer KTM has finally come to India to make the biking enthusiasts in the country rejoice. Well, the firm has unwrapped two of its highly anticipated supersport bikes dubbed RC200 and RC390 respectively.

These new offerings are based on their corresponding Duke siblings – Duke 200 and Duke 390 and they are announced at attractive introductory pricing. KTM has priced the RC200 for Rs 1.60 lakh and the RC390 at Rs 2.05 lakh and these are the ex-showroom pricing in the country’s capital. Along with the Duke 200 and Duke 390, KTM currently has four bikes selling the country.

Both RC200 and RC390 feature sharp design lines and well styled body panels that will provide piles of thrill to the riders involved in supersport motorcycling. In terms of looks, both the bikes are nearly identical with a similar profile with the only difference in their color schemes, however the sole color option is matte black on the duo.

The new KTM bikes have steeply scraped front fairing, near to non-existent side panels that expose the orange trellis frame, sharply styled fuel tank, high raised tail end section with an in-built pillion seat. These design aspects provide an aerodynamic stance to these bikes making them incomparable to the other bikes in the market.

Other components of the duo include clear lens turn indicators on the rear view mirror, dual projector headlamps at the front, fully digital instrument console with loads of information, clip-on adjustable handlebars, aluminum swingarm, under belly exhausts, LED tail lamps, backlit switchgear and forged disc brakes at both the ends. Moreover, the RC390 gets the ABS standard that is not a part of the RC200.

When it comes to the differences between the two, the RC200 gets a 4 stroke single cylinder liquid cooled 199.2cc engine from the Duke 200 that delivers 25 PS of power and 19.2 Nm of torque. In comparison, the RC390 with a Duke 390 like 373.2cc 4 stroke single cylinder, liquid cooled engine renders 43.5 PS of power and 35 Nm of torque. These engines are mated to a 6 speed gearbox that has taller gearing in comparison to that of the Dukes models. The incorporation of taller gearing on the new offerings will provide instantaneous acceleration and linear delivery to these models.
