LAKMĒ FASHION WEEK IN PARTNERSHIP WITH FASHION DESIGN COUNCIL OF INDIA ANNOUNCES SCHEDULE FOR DELHI EDITION FROM 9-13 OCTOBER

National, 4th October 2024: Lakmē Fashion Week in partnership with Fashion Design Council Of India is poised to return to Delhi at The Grand Hotel from 9th to 13th October. The highly anticipated event, presented by the House of Lakmē, the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), and Reliance Brands (RBL), will feature a stellar roster of designers, new initiatives by the platform, and path-breaking collaborations that will shape the future of the fashion and beauty industry.

Since 1952, the House of Lakmē has been a trailblazer in shaping India’s beauty landscape, empowering women both on and off the runway. Continuing its legacy of championing beauty and fashion as powerful forms of self-expression, Lakmē remains at the forefront of innovation. The House of Lakmē Grand Finale will close the season with the return of  fashion mogul Rohit Bal, presenting a collection in which modern Indian fashion finds its roots.

Day 1 will open with an unconventional showcase, where old-school craft meets cool, laid-back style. Fashion Design Council of India and Lakmē Fashion Week present péro, known for its delightfully whimsical take on Indian craftsmanship, on the 9th of October 2024 in New Delhi. Founded by Designer Aneeth Arora, this year also marks a special milestone–the 15th anniversary of péro.

With over 400 members, the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) was founded to expand and enrich the nation’s fashion industry by supporting, nurturing, and highlighting India’s most exceptional fashion and creative talent. In a country rich in indigenous crafts, where handlooms take pride of place, FDCI remains steadfast in its commitment to promoting the “Made in India” label. Through initiatives like the FDCI Stockroom at the event, attendees gain direct access to collections straight off the runway and can engage with designers on the ground, fostering a deeper connection to Indian fashion. FDCI will be presenting a showcase The Denim Edit in collaboration with 11.11 / ELEVEN ELEVEN, Ashish N Soni, Countrymade, Dhruv Kapoor and KGL and will also be collaborating with Pearl Academy for ‘First Cut’.

Reliance Brands, the driving force behind Lakmē Fashion Week x FDCI, is a key player in India’s luxury and fashion landscape. The organisation is deeply committed to nurturing emerging designers and talent while championing sustainability through initiatives like #NIF Global Presents GenNext and R|Elan™ Presents Circular Design Challenge. R|Elan™ Circular Design Challenge, in partnership with the United Nations in India, has grown from a pioneering initiative to a prominent global platform. This season, a new cohort of finalists will compete for the esteemed award, reflecting the initiative’s growing international reach. Additionally, the season will feature a collaboration between R|Elan™ and Huemn, merging R|Elan™’s sustainable fabric innovations with Huemn’s bold, contemporary designs and commitment to socially conscious storytelling, resulting in a striking blend of eco-friendly materials and impactful fashion.
Lakmē Fashion Week x FDCI has always been one of the most awaited and celebrated fashion shows in the country. All showcases will be live-streamed across Lakmē, Lakmē Fashion Week, and FDCI social media channels to ensure widespread access to Indian and global fashion audiences.

·       The House of Lakmē Grand Finale will wrap up the season with the spectacular comeback of fashion visionary Rohit Bal, presenting a collection that seamlessly intertwines contemporary Indian fashion with its ancestral legacy.
·       Fashion Design Council of India and Lakmē Fashion Week will open the season with a striking showcase by péro where traditional Indian craftsmanship meets contemporary flair, setting the stage for a captivating display of heritage and modernity
·       #NIF Global presents Gennext will open the Atelier and unveil 4 emerging talents: Padma Saldon (2112 Saldon), Saurabh Maurya (MARGN), Ananya Arora (Ananya – The Label), and Sakshi Vijay Punyani (VJ). Their innovative collections are set to bring fresh perspectives to the runway.
·       FDCI will collaborate with 11.11 / ELEVEN ELEVEN, Ashish N Soni, Countrymade, Dhruv Kapoor, and KGL to unveil a distinctive and innovative Denim Edit, set to captivate all attendees with its remarkable design and craftsmanship.
·       NEXA presents ‘The Spotlight’ will feature the talented winning designer Ankur Verma of ‘Til’ who will showcase his latest collection that draws inspiration from human textures exploring identity and transformation
·       Continuing partners of the platform will be seen associating with acclaimed designers for showcases like NEXA Presents OTT (Tarun Tahiliani), R|Elan™ X Huemn, Lakmē Salon X Samant Chauhan as well as a showcase by Kalki
·       One Infinite will present showcases featuring Megha Bansal, Salita Nanda, Romaa, Rashi Kapoor, Awigna by Varsha and Rittu, Rishi & Vibhuti among other designers
·       New partnerships this season include Marks & Spencer, which will be featured in the show titled “Marks & Spencer Presents Big Autumn Energy,” further enriching the platform’s diverse collaborative spirit and expanding its reach.
·       India’s biggest sustainability award, R|Elan Circular Design Challenge in partnership with the United Nations in India will see its new group of finalists in its second global edition. The finalists for the season include EU: Wenyan Xu & Meng Wang (Saltless); APAC: Tsang Fan Yu; UK: Silvia Acién (ACIEN); India: Gautam Malik (Jaggery), Ritwik Khanna (RKive City) and Chandini Batra (A Blunt Story). Rashmick Bose & Drishti Modi (Lafaani) will be joining as a wildcard entry from India.
·       Day 2, the Sustainable Fashion Day, will witness designers such as Anurag Gupta, Ek Katha—slow clothing, Kaleekal, Antar-Agni, Payal Pratap, presenting collections that champion sustainability.
·       Abraham & Thakore will close Sustainable Fashion Day, with a collection that breathes new life into forgotten everyday items transforming them into glamorous, upcycled evening wear. These blend nostalgia with a vibrant, modern edge.
·       The platform’s esteemed talent discovery programs—#NIF Global ‘The Runway’, FDCI X Pearl Academy ‘First Cut’, and #NIF Global presents GenNext—will unveil emerging talents to the fashion industry.
·       Other designers to look out for in the Delhi season include – 17:17 by Simmi Saboo, Abhishek Sharma, Ashdeen, Line Outline by Deepit Chugh, Monisha Jaising, Pankaj & Nidhi, Payal Jain, Payal Singhal, Pawan Sachdevaa, Punit Balana, Rahul Singh, Richa Khemka, Rohit Kamra Jaipur, Sameer Madan, Sanjukta Dutta, Shruti Sancheti, TISASTUDIO, Urmil, and Vikram Bajaj.
