~An innovative and trendsetting cut and colour collection inspired by the elements of nature for the unapologetic women of today~

Lakmē Salon, India’s leading salon chain and the pioneer of the beauty industry for 40 years, and designer duo Paras & Shalini of Geisha Designs came together to launch a captivating collection ‘The Elemental Symphony ‘– an impeccable showcase of its latest showstopping hair collection and exquisite designs at this edition of Lakmē Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI. Inspired by the awe-inspiring elements of nature – earth, fire, water, air, and cosmos – this collection transcended conventional beauty standards by using hair as a canvas to create stunning, trendsetting looks. The event was held at Jio World Convention Centre, Bandra Kurla Complex.

The two brands presented a collection that lit up the stage – from opulent hairdo’s inspired by the forces of nature created by Lakmē Salon to the exquisite couture collection by Geisha Design delving into the essence of being ‘Unapologetically You’. The show was a perfect representation of sheer talent, craftmanship, style and creativity.

The inspiration behind Lakmē Salon’s Elemental Symphony collection lies in the profound beauty and elemental forces of nature. The Geisha Designs collection is a vibrant fusion of techniques, drawing inspiration from the diverse Elements of Nature. Dynamic fiery colours, textured growth, and cosmic mystery were brought to life through hand embroideries, playing with different fabrics and materials.

Nature’s essence took the front stage on the runway, with each gorgeous hairdo embodying an elemental theme and expressing the spirit of nature. Models marched down the catwalk, their hair reflecting the forces of nature. Beginning with the “Earth” theme, the runway saw earthy browns with sun-kissed highlights that resemble sunshine beaming through rich soil, accomplished with a seamless combination of root melt and ombre methods. This combination created a seamless transition by softly applying colour to the mid-lengths and ends, which are gently combed for optimum impact. Transitioning to “Cosmos,” the models immersed the audience in a cosmic mystery with smart sectioning and foil placements that created a mesmerising starry night effect reminiscent of the night sky. The models’ hair styled with horseshoe sectionings, diagonal bricks, and backcombing to create a cosmic design that captivates and intrigues. For those seeking a light and breezy look, “Air” channels that airy feeling with the models flaunting a money piece and the freehand Shatush technique, creating a soft, sun-kissed transition that is perfect for those who want to look like they have just stepped off a beach. Shatush, a freehand method, softly combines sections of hair, resulting in a subtle transition of colour from root to tip that resembles a gentle breeze caressing the hair. Next the runway saw the Structured Brick method while diving into the depths of the water. Finally, the Ember hairstyle’s fiery look! To portray the blazing essence of an ember, the models employ a simple yet efficient freehand technique, meticulously drawing on the hair to produce a mesmerising mix of light and shadow, reflecting fire’s dynamic intensity.

Additionally, as a complement to the hair designs, the makeup for each element further enhances the overall theme. The collection sparkled with brilliant yellow shadows and gold glitter. Soft pink eyes dance gracefully, spreading to the cheekbones for a hint of ethereal beauty. The cosmos came alive with dazzling silver glitter, while earth tones whisper sophistication with deep brown lips and gold accents, all soaked in a sumptuous sheen. And for the rest, a mesmerising pink haze washes across the eyes and cheeks, leaving behind a path of sparkling dew.

Adding to the glamour and allure of the evening, rising Bollywood star Medha Shankr of the critically acclaimed movie 12th Fail graced the ramp as the showstopper, donning an exquisite creation from the Elemental Symphony Collection, which left the audience in awe.

Vipul Chaturvedi, CEO of Lakmē Lever, stated, “At Lakmē Salon we believe in the transformative power of beauty. ‘The Elemental Symphony’ is not just a collection of haircuts and colors; it’s a testament to our commitment to innovation and creativity. Partnering with Geisha Designs, renowned for their expertise in recreating natural elements, was a natural choice for this showstopping Cut & Color collection. Launching at Lakmē Fashion Week, every look in this collection has been carefully designed by our National Creative Directors and Backstage Heroes and aims to redefine beauty standards and inspire individuals to embrace their unique style. We look forward to bringing the same runway looks to Lakmē Salon consumers in their everyday lives.”

Designers Paras & Shalini added, We are super excited to collaborate with Lakmē Salon and interpreting their theme for Spring’24 – “The Elemental Symphony”. The profound beauty of the elemental forces of Nature form the core ethos of Geisha Designs. We have taken a floral route to integrate a harmonious blend of Silhouettes & Colours, embracing diversity & individuality as we embark on this journey of self-expression and beauty.”

Speaking on the looks, Audrey D’Souza, National Creative Director, Hair, Lakmē Salon, said, “The hair was inspired by the elements of nature and designed to be an extension of Geisha’s designs. Each element has a story to tell, the five elements of hair design are line, form, space, texture, and color that compliments the five important principles of hair that we relate too and those are proportion, balance, rhythm, emphasis, and harmony. Our team of Lakmē Salon Backstage Experts have identified a genre of art, an exceptional work which is aesthetically innovative, whilst being unapologetically creative to the artist. We’ve used bold electric colours on real hair, gravity defying shapes, finger waving textures, multiple lengths curated for high fashion headgears to showcase the style and create the final look.

Anupma Katyal, National Creative Director – Makeup, Lakmē Salon, added, “The makeup looks created for the Elemental Symphony collection have been curated for the unapologetic women of today. The makeup will showcase the latest trends in makeup like ultra-glossy finish for the skin, watercolour translucent eye shadow, full glossy lips, high sheen highlighter and lastly contour to highlight the features.”
