Lamborghini is looking to cross century mark in sales in India in 2023

Lamborghini, the Italian-based luxury carmaker automobile industry aims to cross a hundred units of sales milestone in the Indian market this year on the back of the record showing in 2022, according to the company’s country head Sharad Agarwal. This announcement comes days after the company posted its record sales in India at 92 units in the year 2022, showing 33 per cent growth from the previous year. Lamborghini’s previous best-ever sales in India was in 2021 with 69 units, before that its best sales in the country was in 2019 with a total of 52 units.

The company sells a range of super luxury cars in India with prices starting from Rs. 3.8 crores.

Sharad Agarwal in conversation with PTI said- Yes, that’s going to be our direction. This is the question that has been coming for some time. We are looking forward to achieving the three-digit mark and hitting the century.

He also responds to the query on whether the company is confident of crossing 100 units sales milestone in 2023 after missing it by 8 units last year. He says- We are not seeing any change or slowdown in our business pattern in the country. We are starting the year with very strong orders and all our models have an average waiting time of about 18 months in India. So this reflects that our production allocation for this year is already sold out in India. We are positive about our growth in the country.

Talking about the new products, Mr. Agarwal said- Lamborghini is planning to introduce its first hybrid car to India this fiscal year. Efforts are made to bring the vehicle to the global markets in the first quarter of 2023. We are also planning to hybridize our entire model range starting this year.

In 2024, we will bring the hybrid Urus and the new hybrid V10, which is going to be a follower of Huracan, a completely new car. He adds- The company’s SUV Urus has contributed more than 60 percent of its business in the country. He said, in 2022, India has become one of the fastest-growing markets for Lamborghini in Asia Pacific as well as globally.
