LG Company has announced a $100 million investment in advanced AI technological advancements.
LG Group recently announced a $100 million investment in building mega-scale AI and establishing an overall artificial neural network. LG AI Research, the company’s AI R&D lab, stated that it intends to develop an expert AI computing system that can mimic the human brain and undertake thorough and independent learning.
On May 17, the business announced that its AI system has expanded data inference capabilities, with over 600 machine learning parameters, in an event announcement. The system would be more efficient than the GPT-3, which is more proficient. LG AI Research is situated in Seoul and was founded in 2020 to create an ideal environment for AI development.
The purpose is to use powerful AI technology to conduct cutting-edge research with the top AI professionals. According to sources, LG AI Research, in collaboration with 16 group affiliates, plans to construct an AI model with trillion scale parameters by next year.
The group is also working with constructing an AI model that can execute sales activities for B2B customers, according to the article, and the AI system is expected to aid client counseling and procedural requirements.
This isn’t the first time LG AI Research Lab has made a splash. The company has progressed basic AI research to build cutting-edge technology in the research sectors. They are attempting to develop revolutionary AI that can be applied in real-world applications, allowing it to reach a wider audience. In this environment, some of their AI efforts include parallel computing, continuous learning, generative models to tackle data shortages, AI for design techniques, and Explainable AI.
More artificial intelligence initiatives
LG AI Research and the University of Toronto collaborated to create an Explainable AI system that aids in the detection and elimination of display panel flaws. The Semantic Input Sampling for Explanation (SISE) technique is used for better understanding how machine learning makes decisions, such as medical picture interpretation.
This accomplishment qualifies as the research center’s first big breakthrough. Explainable AI will give humans evidence as well as intelligent decisions, allowing them to better understand the decision-making process. In several valuable industries, this technology might also be used to replace human-driven judgments.
Another study on continuous learning found that AI systems can learn sequential data indefinitely, interpret data from the previous knowledge, and grasp it. A generative model that can execute state-of-the-art video forecasting gets discovered in another investigation by the study team.
According to the paper, the system predicts future frames by first estimating a sequence of semantic structures and then converting them to pixels using video-to-video translation. When compared to previous models, it allows for a significantly longer prediction time. It demonstrates how, across domains, the model continuously increases the quality of learned representations. LG AI Research is achieving its goal by enabling and disseminating cutting-edge artificial intelligence advancements.
