Mahindra & Mahindra, the largest utility vehicle in the country has announced the launch of a new micro SUV called KUV100 priced aggressively in the bracket Rs 4.42 lakhs to Rs 6.76 lakh. This vehicle is aimed at the first time purchasers that the company claims to be the beginning of a new chapter.
The chairman of the automobile manufacturer, Anand Mahindra, addressed the gathering stating that the KUV’s launch is a new variation point in the history of the company. It could be bigger than the transition that Scorpio created in the past.
Mahindra states that KUV 100 is then SUV that is fuel efficient in the country with a fuel efficiency of 25.32 km per liter of diesel and 18.15 km per liter of petrol. A 1.2 liter engine powers the petrol and diesel variants of the vehicle that is based on the monocoque architecture. KUV 100 will help the company de-risk the from the noise against the diesel vehicles as it comes with a new petrol engine that will help the company tap into 1,00,000 units per month.
With the launch of the KUV 100, Mahindra will be creating a new price point for the SUV’s in India. The vehicle’s design, aggressive pricing, and features will also help the firm surpass the best sellers such as Hyundai Grand i10 and Maruti Suzuki Swift.
With the newly launched Renault Kwid’s overwhelming response, the love for the entry level SUVs is evident in the country. As per Mahindra, the utility vehicle segment grew by 51 percent in the past three years, but the passenger car segment witnessed a de-growth of 7 percent in the same period. This has increased the utility vehicle share to 23 percent against 15 percent before three years.
Mahindra has roped in Varun Dhawan, the Bollywood actor as the brand ambassador of the KUV 100. Also, the manufacturer has partnered with Flipkart, M2all.com, and Carandbike.com to attract the youth to book this vehicle online.
