Mahindra Reva Launches New e2o Variant for Rs 5.72 Lakh

Aug 22, 2014: After gaining lukewarm response for its electric car Mahindra Reva e2o, Mahindra Electric Vehicles unveiled a new variant of the four-wheeler. This new model comes packed with additional features as compared to the one launched previously.

The Mahindra Reva e2o is priced at 5.72 lakh (on road in New Delhi) and as part of the ‘Goodbye Fuel, Hello Electric’ programme, this vehicle comes with a monthly energy fee of Rs 2,999 that will let the users to drive around 50,000 km for a time period of five years. Thus programme has been launched in order to reduce the initial acquisition cost and the usage cost of the vehicle in terms of maintenance and battery.

Talking about the feature additions and the enhancements brought to this new variant of the electric car; it is upgraded to provide an extended range of 120 km and includes the electric power steering. There are more features like infotainment system, rear camera, parking assist and drive information display.

Mahindra has added a new feature called hill-hold that will prevent the car from rolling back when it is on an inclined surface. With the advancement of technology, the Mahindra e2o can be synced with the driver’s smartphone in order to allow the access of the car’s details such as air conditioning system and battery levels and to know nearby charging stations as well remotely.

Moreover, Mahindra has announced that they will be setting up around 300 charging stations across all the major cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore. Also, they have assured that they will be adding another 100 to the list by the end of 2014.

Apart from the Mahindra Reva e2o, the maker is also developing hybrid and electric models of other vehicles such as Mahindra Verito sedan and Maxximo commercial vehicle. These variants are believed to enter the market within a time frame of a year.
