The launch of Mahindra & Mahindra’s new lineup of electric SUVs was timed to coincide with India’s 75th Independence Day. The five future born-electric SUVs have been divided into two unique sub-brands: XUV.e and BE, and are built on Mahindra’s innovative INGLO platform.
The newly created BE sub-brand will have three models under it: BE.05, BE.07, and BE.09, while the XUV.e sub-brand will have two models under it: XUV.e8 and XUV.e9. Although their outputs may vary, all five electric SUVs will be built on the same INGLO platform and battery module.
With its selection of ICE vehicles, Mahindra’s XUV brand is already well-known. A fresh identity is used by the subbrand XUV.e. The XUV family of electric vehicles, which will go into production in 2024, will include a new copper finish on the twin peak emblem.
From 2025 onward, the BE line of electric vehicles will have a noticeably different appearance with C-shaped LED headlight and tail lighting parts and sharply cut body surfaces.
The XUV.e8 will be the first vehicle to enter production and will go on sale in December 2024. Although the XUV.e8 is built on the INGLO platform, it shares many design cues with the XUV700, including a comparable three-row seating arrangement and basic design elements.
April 2025 will see the release of the second XUV.e9 variant. The XUV.e9 will have five seats as opposed to the XUV.e8’s eight.
BE.05. is the next model. The BE.05, known as a Sports Electric Vehicle, or SEV, has an aggressive front look with angular C-shaped headlamps and substantial airdams.
In October 2026, Mahindra will introduce the BE.07 SUV’s production model. The BE.07 has a conventional SUV shape as opposed to the coupe-SUV silhouette of the BE.05. It still has C-shaped headlights and taillights, but they are less angular than those on the BE.05.
The BE.09 is the final model to be unveiled from Mahindra’s BE lineup, and like the BE.05, it is a coupe-SUV. Mahindra hasn’t yet provided information on the BE.09 concept’s size or anticipated timeline. The BE.09 will sit at the top of the BE line-up because, based on appearances, it is the coupe version of the BE.07.
