On August 15 Saturday, Mahindra unveiled the latest THAR in India, ‘a true embodiment of Atmanirbhar Bharat’. Designed in India, Engineered in India, manufactured in India, for the world. On October 2nd the second generation Thar will be launched in the country. The latest Mahindra Thar in its new avatar not only the updated design in exteriors and interiors but also more powerful BS6-compliant petrol and diesel engines with manual and automatic transmission capability.

The latest Mahindra Thar is fitted with a T-GDI petrol engine mStallion 150, 2.0-liter, which produces 150bhp maximum power and 320Nm peak torque. And also 2.2-liter turbo diesel engine mHawk 130, with a maximum performance of 130bhp and the strongest twisting force of 300Nm is also available. All the machines have the options of 6-speed MT and 6-speed AT (torque converter). The second generation Mahindra Thar gets 4WD as a standard fitting to the joy of all the Thar lovers. This SUV is based on a third-generation platform of the automaker with a body-on-frame design. The suspension is totally brand new. The new Thar has a 650 mm water wading capacity, and a 226 mm ground clearance.

In the new Thar, Mahindra and Mahindra have added some top-notch safety features. In addition to the regular fittings such as dual airbags, ABS, central locking, rear parking assist, the Thar second generation also comes with tyretronics and tyre-direction tracking system, hill hold and hill descent control., electronic stability software, and electronic power steering

The Thar follows the same philosophy in terms of design as most other modern interpretations of iconic off-roaders such as the Jeep Wrangler, Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen, Ford Bronco and the Land Rover Defender. The 4×4 configuration of the Mahindra Thar will have a power split of 50:50 Turning the fly allows you to switch from 2H or 2-wheel-drive mode to 4H or 4-wheel-drive mode on the go.

The Thar ‘s price has not yet been disclosed but is predicted to be in line with the preceding generation that begins at Rs 10 lakh.

Anand Mahindra, chairman, Mahindra & Mahindra has entered the group of citizens in their garage who want the latest Thar 2020. He also emphasized he’s not waiting for the car until October. He said in a tweet, “I want this NOW. Waiting for October is tough enough. If they placed me at the bottom of the waiting list for this beast, I’ll have a tough fight with our team.’
